What is an allegation?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A nutrition and health claim is a statement or image that promotes a product in terms of nutrition or health. The claim is a regulatory tool that protects the consumer and avoids misleading him when making a purchase. These claims are defined by the European authorities, with regard to the scientific data available on the subject (unanimity of studies, tangible evidence, precise dosages).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to verify an allegation?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We, manufacturers, are not free to claim anything on our packaging. For example, we cannot say that the product is \u201crich in vitamin C\u201d (nutritional claim) if we have added too little. We also cannot say that caffeine \u201creduces fatigue\u201d. The clinical study, an alternative to the health claim?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Other guarantees can replace claims to allow you to verify the effectiveness of an ingredient, these are clinical studies. They are carried out at the expense of the ingredient supplier. To be taken with caution if there are few clinical studies. On the other hand, if the ingredient has been the subject of numerous clinics demonstrating its effectiveness, you are guaranteed to choose a quality ingredient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nutrition and health claims are often general to an ingredient and do not guarantee that it is of high quality. Clinical studies, on the other hand, will give you more information about the ingredient, how it stands out from other products that belong to the same category. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
